Security Officer - Troy, NY

We are looking to hire one full time security officer in Troy, NY. The pay rate for the position is $18.00 an hour. This position is Tuesday through Friday from 2200-0800 (10:00pm to 8:00am) for a total of 40 hours a week.

We are seeking a dependable and professional Security Officer for a challenging assignment at a transitional housing facility serving individuals experiencing homelessness. This environment may involve exposure to confrontational situations, including verbal disputes, physical altercations, substance use, and medical emergencies, such as overdoses. The successful candidate must possess the ability to remain composed, make sound decisions under pressure, and demonstrate a firm yet respectful approach when addressing difficult situations. Key Responsibilities: • Conduct walking patrols to ensure safety and security throughout the facility. • Monitor surveillance systems for unusual or suspicious activity. • Maintain detailed and accurate daily activity logs and incident reports. • Stay vigilant and aware of surroundings at all times, anticipating and responding to potential issues. • Promptly contact law enforcement or emergency services when necessary. • Collaborate with facility staff to uphold a safe and respectful environment for all residents. Qualifications: • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to de-escalate tense situations. • Resilience and professionalism in high-stress or emotionally charged environments. • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail. • Experience with CCTV systems and incident reporting preferred. • Previous security or crisis response experience strongly desired. • Ability to remain calm, assertive, and courteous under pressure. This position requires a candidate who is both confident and compassionate—able to manage safety concerns effectively while treating all individuals with dignity and respect.
