Title: Recreation Leader - Day Camp (Bike Ambassador)
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS:
Under direct supervision, provides bike education to all city of Chicago residents.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Travels to different parts of the city to provide assistance with presentations in bike safety and awareness.
- Provides one-on-one lessons for the Learn to Ride series.
- Assist in Chicago Park District and Chicago Department of Transportation events.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience:
High School or an equivalent certification (GED) is required but may be waived for seasonal employees who are referred through special hiring programs. Candidates for this position must have reached their 16th birthday at time of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work with individuals or groups of children from ages 3 years old and older; Basic knowledge of bike education including safety, awareness, and maintenance; Effective oral communication skills; Ability to enforce safety rules; Ability to assist and lead in large group presentations.
