Position Summary

The Health Information Operations Supervisor oversees the performance of the HIM staff. The Supervisor is responsible for the quality and efficiency of workflow and training of the staff. The Supervisor will enforce SIH policies, procedures and guidelines as they pertain to the staff and workflow in the Health Information Department.

Principal Accountabilities

Education

  • Preferred Associate or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management

Licenses and Certification

  • RHIA or RHIT preferred

Experience and Skills

  • 3 years technical experience

Physical Activities

  • Intermittent hand manipulation required
  • Intermittent lifting and carrying of 20 pounds

Role Specific Responsibilities

  • Oversee Health Information Operations staff, to include deficiency analysis functions and birth certificate workflows, monitoring all aspects of job-related responsibilities.
  • Completes time and attendance requirements for the team, approves time sheets, time-off requests, and ensures accurate and timely completion for payroll.
  • Train new and existing staff on policies, procedures, and operational workflows.
  • Approve and order all office supplies and equipment valued at <$200.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic technical issues related to the EHR system and collaborate with IT and clinical teams to improve workflow when needed.
  • Participates in corrective action process according to policy. Notifies Assistant Privacy Officer/HI Operations Manager of any situation that may lead to this action. Works closely with Human Resources to complete this task.
  • Successfully interacts with clinical staff to assist with deficient and delinquent medical record completion.
  • Willingly provides cross-functional coverage when needed including deficiency analysis and birth certificate tech coverage during times of staffing needs.
  • Actively engages and makes meaningful contribution when participating in performance improvement initiatives, department meetings and other meetings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

Compensation (Commensurate with experience):

$24.12 - $37.39
