UI/UX Designer- Electrification Team

Digital Product Design (DPD) at Ford is committed to envisioning and creating simple, thoughtful, enjoyable, and compelling product experiences that our customers need and love. Our team is comprised of a dynamic group of product designers, researchers, visual designers, industrial designers, modelers, and project managers. 

 
On the Electrification team, we strive to create “the first EV that anyone can understand.” We’re looking for an exceptional UI/UX designer to join us in creating production-ready designs across mobile and in-vehicle experiences that meet our users where they are today, while exploring the latest interactive design trends, hardware capabilities, and new technologies to shape where we are headed in the future.  

In this position... 

In this role, you must be able to envision the big picture while also rolling up your sleeves to perfect the smallest project details. You will create compelling and thoughtful mobile user experiences with a focus on clean and artful design and seamless integration with in-vehicle interfaces. 

 

What you'll do…  

• Use Figma and UX tools to develop compelling mobile experiences for our users  

• Collaborate on the design of new features and product improvements, ensuring all align with business objectives and user needs 

• Take ownership of independent tracks of design work and manage timelines and deliverables 

• Develop and iterate user flows, mock-ups, and prototypes at varying levels of fidelity to effectively communicate design ideas and production intent 

• Present creative work early and often to key stakeholders in design reviews and incorporate feedback to improve your designs 

• Apply data-driven insights to inform design decisions and measure the impact of design changes 

• Express our brand vision through UI design that aligns with our design system and integrates across multiple channels 

• Execute all design work with a keen sensibility to layout, color, typography, and interactive behavior 

• Collaborate closely with product management, engineering, and feature teams to ensure a seamless transition from concept to implementation 

• Employ a systematic approach to solving large, complex design challenges 

• Exhibit a passion for emerging technologies, new interaction models, product design, and excellence in visual design 

 

What you’ll have... 

• Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and equivalent experience  

• 3+ years mobile design experience 

• Demonstrated experience with end-to-end design work, from ideation to delivery. This includes experience working directly with engineering & product teams to deliver design files, design assets, and documentation required to produce a launch-able product.  

• High-fidelity prototyping abilities (e.g. Figma, ProtoPie or similar)  

• Experience working with design system components in Figma or similar 

• Proven experience collaborating with engineering teams to solve development issues through design, monitoring customer feedback and product analytics, and refining design in response to incoming feedback and data 

• Experience with iteratively designing a product in production based on usage data and customer feedback

• Exceptional visual design skills 

• Experience collaborating with Product Requirement Documents (PRD's)  

• Experience working in Jira, owning tasks that map to delivery stage for engineering  

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies 

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously   

• Proficiency in human-centered design approaches, techniques, and philosophy  

• Sensitivity to intelligent system interactions  

• Background in automotive UI/UX design 

• Background in digital product design solutions 

• Background working through iterative product design cycles   

• Excellent concepting, written, oral, and visual communication abilities  

• In-depth knowledge
