Job Location: FL - Lake Wales, FL 33853Salary Range: $53,560.00 - $91,524.07 Salary/yearGENERAL PURPOSE
Performs a variety of complex administrative and technical accounting and finance functions. Responsible for the oversight of accounting operations, year-end audit, and annual budget in accordance with GASB standards. Work is performed with considerable independence in judgment and decision-making.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general direction of the Finance Director.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Exercise supervision over Finance staff as needed relating to unusual items, compiling the annual budget in compliance with GFOA standards, and closing year-end financials in compliance with GFOA standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Exercises discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
Qualifications
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
(A) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in public administration, business administration, accounting, or a closely related field. CPA Certified or have necessary educational requirements to set for the CPA exam.
(B) Ten (10) years of progressively responsible related experience, or
(C) Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
(A) Knowledge of modern electronic data processing theory, principles, and practices; knowledge of management information systems; knowledge of office automation and computerized financial applications; knowledge of local area networks (LAN);
(B) Skill in operating the listed tools and equipment;
(C) Ability to prepare and analyze complex reports; ability to maintain efficient and effective automated systems; ability to develop simple software programs; ability to effectively supervise staff; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, city officials; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
(D) Knowledge of modern governmental accounting theory, principles, and practices; knowledge of internal control procedures and management information systems; some knowledge of public finance and fiscal planning; knowledge of budgetary, accounting and reporting systems, GAAFR, GAAP and GASB.
