The Raytheon team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to support our radar programs and the Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) Software (SW) Department.  The MDS SW mission is to provide world class Radar and Command and Control (C2) Software for our customers’ wide array of Surveillance and Warning Systems. We align to the core Agile and DevSecOps principles of collaborative operation across the entire value stream, delivering high-frequency, high-quality deployments to our customers.  We strive for technical excellence by drawing upon an experienced workforce whose knowledge base covers the complete spectrum of modern computing languages and platforms.

As a member of our team, you will design, develop, test, and release software products for one of our C2 programs. Some of the programs our department supports NASAMS (NASAMS | Raytheon) and Air Defense Operations Center (ADOC).

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in software design and development, an eagerness to learn, the ability to work 100% onsite and collaboratively with a team, and an interest in complex, real-time, safety-critical systems.

The job location for this opportunity is in Tewksbury, Massachusetts.

What You Will Do

  • Work on an agile team responsible for developing and delivering software for one of the MDS Department’s programs.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, and test software based on software trouble reports in an agile, collaborative environment, delivering build to site multiple times a year.

  • Participate in agile execution and continuous improvement.

  • Work collaboratively with systems and SI&T engineers to analyze, implement, and test system modification requests to the existing system baseline.

  • Assist and participate in the requirements, design, development and testing of real-time application software and tools, to include development of new work products or enhancement of existing applications and systems.

  • Work on problems with open ended scope, schedule, and expectations.

  • Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products.

  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications using C/C++ for complex systems and applications.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features, ensuring system integration and scalability while utilizing new flows through the software factory.

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing code for performance and efficiency in complex environments.

  • Write and maintain comprehensive documentation for software applications, including system architecture and design specifications.

  • Design and develop tooling to deploy software to various lab and customer site environments.

  • Develop automation pipelines to streamline the integration of upstream software releases and automate configuration management.

  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.

  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in C/C++ technologies, especially in relation to complex systems and continuous delivery.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Experience developing software with agile methodology in a team-based environment.

  • Experience with software development, test, and/or integration using C, C++, Java, or Ada.

  • Ability to obtain U.S. government issued Interim Secret secur
