JOB SUMMARY

This service line is a team of Advanced Practice Providers that work exclusively in the Neuro Critical Care setting across Clements University Hospital and Texas Health Dallas. The team provides 24/7 coverage through a rotating schedule of days, nights, weekends, and holidays, with APPs typically working three 12-hour shifts per week. APPs care for critically ill neurologic and neurosurgical patients, including acute stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, and post-operative neurosurgical populations. We are seeking Physician Assistants or Acute Care Nurse Practitioners who can think critically, take initiative, and manage complex patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. Providers serve on the front line of patient care, collaborating with physicians, fellows, residents, and multidisciplinary teams to evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, respond to clinical changes, and support critical care interventions and procedures. Schedule: 12-hour shifts with a rotating schedule of days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

  • Education
  • Graduate of a master’s degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program.   OR
  • Master’s degree or higher in nursing, documentation of completion of accredited Advanced Practice Education Program. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.
  • Licensure and Certification
  • Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Certification required. Licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board. OR 
  • Licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by Texas State Board of Nursing. Authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Current applicable Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association or American Red Cross Life Support certification(s) based on UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice
