Job Description Summary

Assistant/Associate Professor position and Endowed Dr. James Russell Myers Engineering Technology Professorship in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology with an emphasis on Industry 4.0 and Digital Transformation. Assistant/Associate Professor to primarily teach and develop undergraduate courses and laboratories in Electro-Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Automation and Systems Engineering. The faculty member will also be responsible for conducting research in the relevant field. Additionally, the faculty member will contribute to maintaining ABET/ETAC accreditation standards. Anticipate start date is August 2025.

Job Description

Assistant/Associate Professor to primarily teach and develop undergraduate courses and laboratories in Electro-Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Automation and Systems Engineering. The faculty member will also be responsible for conducting research in the relevant field. Additionally, the faculty member will contribute to maintaining ABET/ETAC accreditation standards. Anticipate start date is August 2025. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teach and develop undergraduate courses and laboratories in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology. Courses may include process control interface design, computerized instrumentation, industrial automation, electro-mechanical control systems, modern manufacturing systems, dynamics, fluid mechanics, PLC, Industry 4.0, and industrial robotics.

  • Provide service to the department, college, university, and profession.

  • Advise Electro-Mechanical students.

  • Contribute to maintaining ABET/ETAC.

  • Conduct research that results in high-quality, peer-reviewed publications.

  • Secure external funding to support research.

  • Engage with and establish partnerships with industry.

The Department of Engineering Technology is located in the Regional campuses and currently offers ABET/ETAC-accredited bachelor's completion degree programs with concentrations in Electrical and Computer, Mechanical, and Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, as well as associate degree programs in Mechanical Engineering Technology and Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology. Additionally, the department has recently launched a new bachelor’s completion degree in Robotics Engineering Technology. Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a closely related discipline. In addition to doctoral degree appointment as Associate Professor requires established record of research/scholarship.

Consideration may be given to applicants with at least one year of industry experience and/or at least one year of teaching and developing undergraduate courses in Engineering Technology.
