About the role

Description

Support the Office of Research and Technology Management (ORTM) in building AI-powered productivity tools for research administrators. The initial focus will be on helping administrators evaluate NIH proposal budgets, with the potential to expand into other tools based on stakeholder priorities. Working under the guidance of the Director of the ISSACS Professional Services Group, the student will collaborate directly with ORTM stakeholders to define requirements, iteratively build and test solutions, and document delivery and maintenance patterns.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (Computer Science, Data Science, or related field)
  • Attention to detail and solid organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with non-technical stakeholders
  • Must be able to work full-time in person at Sears think[box] for the summer

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with AI/LLM tools, prompt engineering, or platforms such as Google Gemini
  • Experience building or configuring AI assistants, chatbots, or similar tools
  • Interest in research administration, compliance, or process improvement
  • Experience with user-centered design or iterative development
