Job Description
AECOM is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support programs throughout the US and OCONUS regions. This onsite position can be based in Arlington, VA, Baltimore, MD or Roanoke, VA.
This person will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Performs various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for a specific technical group or department.
- Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.
- Generally requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of engineering.
- Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.
- Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.
- Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.
- Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
- Manages group of engineers and/or technicians, coordinating activities of the unit.
Engineering:
- Provide technical peer review of design, shop drawings, submittals
- Initiates and leads quality assurance and commissioning from design through post-occupancy.
- Leads development of electrical commissioning specifications and electrical test procedures required to validate the installation and performance of power distribution systems and controls.
- Lead Quality Control Verifier for AECOM developed commissioning procedures.
Project Management:
- Interface with clients on schedules, meetings and issues (manage client expectations).
- Advise senior management of the project status on a regular basis.
- Anticipate potential schedule or priority delays and initiate plans for alternative actions
- Complies with AECOM project manager guidelines and reporting duties including but not limited to:
- Project Execution
- Project Deadlines
- Client Communication
- Team Utilization
Team Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead junior, mid-level and senior staff and provide mentorship, direction and motivation on a daily basis and in a strategic manner to ensure AECOM remains an employer of choice for field technical engineers and commissioning professionals.
- Responsible for Leave Approval of your direct reports.
- Input into staff performance and development on a continuous basis as well as to Monitor & Motivate your team with respect to Moral.
- Assists staff with annual goal setting and monitors progress towards achieving goals.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS in Electrical Engineering + 8 years of related exp or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education of combined design and commissioning experience including time in a supervisory role.
A combined design and commissioning experience including time in a supervisory role.
Supports project overnight travel estimated 30% annually.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- Ability to obtain National Security Clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required, due to the nature of the work
Valid Driver’s License and must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review
