JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Department of Geosciences is seeking applicants for part-time job of Research assistant focused on field-based hyperspectral imaging.

.

Job duties to include:

  • The research assistant will (a) analyze satellite remote sensing hyperspectral data to assess the effects of volcanic activity (fluids and ash) on the reflectance with a goal of detecting and characterizing submarine eruptions, and (b) develop approaches to calibrate the results using field portable hyperspectral instrument to calibrate the results and develop spectral libraries. The latter work may also involve some local field work to collect fluids and samples for the library. The assistant will then analyze the data and aid in interpretations.
