Job Title: Respiratory Therapist - Team Leader- Bronchoscopy Specialist
Reports to: Manager
In Leadership:
Provide education and training
Integrate best practice relative to specialty
Execute consistent meetings
Ensure accountability for staff performance relative to specialty
Engage with leadership team frequently
In Knowledge:
Have knowledge of all equipment utilized in the Bronch Lab area.
Keep abreast of latest bronch technology. Stay current with Bronch Lab industry standards.
Enlist vendors to keep staff up to speed with technology and proper utilization of equipment.
Understand and comply with all TJC safety standards for documentation, forms, patient monitoring and environment of care and infection control.
Understand specimen management
In Performance:
Maintain competencies for all colleagues for scope cleaning and handling
Work with staff to maintain competencies for bedside bronchs as well as diagnostic procedures
Assure proper handling and safety of scopes and equipment
Assure the training of new Bronch staff therapists as needed. Need to be assessed annually
Maintain bronch specific KPI
Perform bronchoscopies in the bronchoscopy suite ensuring tests be started on time and schedules maintained.
Work with anesthesia, nursing, transportation and radiology to ensure timeliness of all bronch procedures.
Perform bronchoscopies at bedside.
Assure specimen handling
Attend tumor board meetings to be current with patient flows
Review policies and procedures annually for appropriateness and accuracy.
Maintain equipment and supply par levels. Order as needed
Assure bedside cart is properly stocked and maintained.
Offer hands on workshop biannually for bedside bronch refresher
Work with service to ensure proper return of scopes from repair and loaners.
