<p><strong>Location: </strong>Angola, Luanda with travels to field offices</p><p><strong>Starting date:</strong> according to availability, ideally December 2024<br/><strong>Duration: </strong>24 months with possibility of extension<br/><strong>Languages:</strong> English; advanced Portuguese (or proficient Spanish)</p><p><br/><strong>People in Need (PIN)</strong> is an international non-profit organization providing relief and development assistance in over 20 countries worldwide. Formed in 1992, PIN has grown to be the biggest organisation of its kind in Central Europe, providing relief where it is needed, and empowering civil society in Czech Republic, Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia. PIN has been operational since 2006 in Angola with offices in Luanda, Lubango, Huambo, Kuito and Moçâmedes.</p><p>PIN’s strategic approach is built on three main pillars: (1) Emergency Response and Recovery, (2) Climate Resilience, and (3) Civil Society and Inclusive Governance. Our projects are designed to align with these strategic pillars and focus on addressing key issues such as good governance, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), nutrition, agriculture and food security, livelihoods, and public health. As climate resilience becomes an increasingly critical component of our country programs, it will be a key priority for the new Country Director to further explore and integrate climate adaptation and mitigation strategies into our projects. <a href="https://www.peopleinneed.net/what-we-do/humanitarian-aid-and-development/angola" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.peopleinneed.net/what-we-do/humanitarian-aid-and-development/angola</a></p><p><strong>Country Director (CD) </strong>is the legal representative of the PIN Country Program and is responsible for strategic leadership and envisioning the overall program development. The CD supervises program, finance, human resources, logistics and security departments. Many of the CD’s responsibilities consist of medium-term and long-term activities and strategic planning. The CD is primarily responsible for internal and external representation, fundraising and the country program’s economy. Establishing and maintaining relationships with donors and partners and having a strong connection with higher level of government ministries/counterparts relevant to PIN operations in the country are on top of the CD’s agenda. The CD is also responsible for establishment and maintenance of managerial procedures and staff development through supporting, motivating, and engaging the country program’s staff. <br/> <br/> <strong>Reporting relations and Interdependencies with other functions</strong></p><p>The CD reports to the Africa Regional Director. S/he directly supervises the Head of Programs (HoP) and the Head of Systems and Operations (HoSO). In the absence of the key staff, the CD may need to bridge reporting lines.  The key counterpart of the CD at HQ level is the Programme Manager, Southern Africa. The CD consults with the PM on decisions of strategic importance and collaborates extensively in the management of the country program.</p><h3><strong>Main responsibilities:</strong></h3><h3><strong>Management</strong></h3><p>· <strong>Strategic Planning &amp; Implementation:</strong> Develop and implement the country programme strategy in Angola, ensuring alignment with PIN's Relief and Development Department (RDD) strategy. Adapt strategies based on the country context, needs, and priorities.</p><p>· <strong>Team Leadership:</strong> Lead and coordinate the country program team, overseeing all operations and ensuring effective teamwork.</p><p>· <strong>Operational Oversight:</strong> Oversee all aspects of the country program, including finance, compliance, administration, human resources, logistics, and security.</p><p>· <strong>Strategic Development:</strong> Engage in medium- and long-term strategic planning, institutional development, and staff capacity building. Establish and maintain managerial procedures, record and apply lessons learned, and support capacity building initiatives.</p><p>·  <strong>Global Collaboration:</strong> Work with other Country Directors globally and regionally on organizational development topics.</p><h3><strong>Program Management</strong></h3><p>· The CD in cooperation with the HoP supports and supervises senior program staff, follows all critical phases of the Project Cycle Management (PCM), and actively participates / leads the design of new programs/projects.</p><p>· Supports the HoP in maintaining a high quality of programming and ensuring compliance with internal
