About the role

Position Summary

Lead the management and execution of Finishing Operations for all Mactac Distribution Centers (DC's) and contracted Distribution Centers (CDC's). This includes creating a future vision for finishing operations, optimizing the Mactac finishing network for service performance, cost, and inventory, and overseeing daily management of DC performance.

Scope:

Manages all Mactac Distribution Centers and contracted finishing partners, which includes responsibility for approximately $12MM operating budget, 5.5MM in contracted finishing services, $4.5MM FG inventory, and direct and indirect reports of approximately 140 people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acts as a safety leader. Creating a culture of safety is Mactac's number one priority Ensures compliance to and/or with all Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, practices and regulations.
  • Direct and monitor the performance of assigned personnel to ensure we achieve our service commitments to customers as well as our strategic deliverables and financial targets. Drive a relentless focus on quality and champion key continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Must possess a strong orientation towards servicing our customers in everything they do, since the finishing operations are the last touch point before customer delivery
  • Must work effectively with the Plant Managers, Customer Service Manager, Coating Scheduler, Logistics Manager, Director of Engineering, Sourcing, Finance, Sales/Marketing, and IT on the development and execution of daily and long term objectives, to include financial impacts. This includes being a catalyst for change and change management.
  • Develop and administer systems, policies, initiatives and procedures to continuously improve efficiencies, capabilities, reporting, analysis and human capital.
  • Develop and execute finishing operation strategies, such as network optimization, leadtime reduction, and inventory controls
  • Develop and manage department budgets.
  • Establish FG inventory targets for all Mactac DC's and contract finishing partners
  • Manage capacity across Mactac assets by building and/or utilizing models.
  • Optimize slitter scheduling productivity in concert with manufacturing locations.
  • Leads the network optimization transformation, including capacity management, for assigned DC's
  • Partner with Sales/Marketing to manage aged FG inventory and implement inventory control processes
  • Ensures performance, cost, inventory and machine efficiency associated with all Mactac service offerings working with operations and the commercial teams.
  • Develops and facilitates the implementation of best-in-class processes
  • Change agent - brings innovation, excitement, collaboration and cohesiveness into the department.

  • Physical Requirements: Work is conducted nearly entirely in an office environment. Hearing, eye, and foot protection are mandatory when entering the plant, and provided.

  • Location: Stow, OH (Close proximity to Akron, OH & Cleveland, OH)
  • Travel: up to 50%

Selection Criteria:

  • Education:
    • Bachelors' Degree required. Emphasis in Materials Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Administration, Sciences, Math, or Engineering preferred.
    • Post-graduate degree in Materials or Operations Management desirable.
    • Working experience with 6 Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, ISO, cGMP, or similar experience and certification strongly preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience with supply chain-related activities - production control, inventory management, and procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to drive for higher performance through excellent leadership, organizational, communication (including active listening), analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
    • Must be a team player and mobilize others to initiate change and build momentum for change.
    • Strong strategic abilities to envision where the company needs to go and facilitate how to get there within the department.
