Job Description
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions
• Determines work priorities; schedules rail, barge, and truck unloads/loads to ensure the most beneficial use of labor and facility equipment. Works with corporate logistics, commercial traders, barge lines and railroads on a daily basis to set priorities and communicate facility requirements
• Sets vessel hours of operation and schedules appropriate labor for LD Employees, ILWU, RLN, Teamsters, Stevedores, and Federal Grain Inspection Service staff. Communicates with Stevedores and vessel agents to establish daily plan
• Acts as conduit/coordinator between General Superintendent, SHE Manager, Maintenance Superintendent, Logistics, and Control Room so that smooth, efficient, and productive communications are created and maintained. Communicates and delegates tasks and directives from the General Superintendent to the Facility Staff
• Manages and reviews vessel and rail demurrage and dispatch accounts
• Monitors and prioritizes elevator grain quality and inventory position. Communicates information to and from Shift Supervisors, grain buyers and Kansas City logistics.
• Trains and assist Shift Supervisors in all aspects of facility operations
• Monitors grain condition and communicates with the superintendent/ traders if certain stocks need to be moved
Additional Responsibilities
• Fills in for Shift Supervisors as needed
• Acts as Elevator Superintendent when superintendent is absent.
• Assists in the compliance of safety, corporate and environmental programs.
• Assists in the development and maintenance of budgets for the facility

Qualifications
Experience
Basic qualifications:
- Five years plus of experience in the grain industry with increasing responsibility in the areas of mechanical and electrical maintenance, grain handling, and supervision.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Prior grain elevator management experience.
- Prior logistical management for truck, barge, and vessel.
Preferred qualifications:
- Prior vessel loading experience
- Supervisory experience at an export grain facility
- Prior experience with vessel load orders and contracts

The following are the basic qualifications:
- Superior knowledge of OSHA, Food Safety, Grain Standards, and Environmental regulations
- Demonstrated ability to manage change within the work force
- Demonstrated skills of team building and conflict resolution
- Effective communication (verbal, written, presentation) skills
- Broad knowledge of industrial machinery, including preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacement equipment
- Strong working knowledge of computer operations
- Thorough understanding of plant operations
- Basic understanding of electrical systems
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders as well as work at extended heights of 175 feet, manage confined space entry, withstand extended periods of walking and standing, and move manufacturing materials, products and equipment of 50 pounds or more, which requires regular bending and lifting
