The Research Coordinator - Laboratory (Microbiology Emphasis) is an integral part of our Research and Development team based out of our US - Mendon, IL site.
Position Details
The Research Coordinator plays a critical role in managing and overseeing various aspects of laboratory research projects at the Phibro Innovation Center. This position coordinates the planning and execution of the laboratory portion of research protocols, especially those related to microbiology procedures. This role uses a variety of experimental procedures to process samples from scientific trials. This role will collaborate with scientists, laboratory technicians, and animal technicians involved in various aspects of scientific research.
Key Responsibilities
Research trial planning and execution
- Coordinate all activities, including but not limited to resources, facilities, timelines and budgets, related to the preparation and execution of scientific protocols
Data collection and management
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory research activities, including protocols, regulatory documents and research data
- Oversee and design data collection tools, train personnel and ensure data quality and integrity
Safety and compliance
- Ensure compliance with all safey regulations, including the handling and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials
Facility maintenance
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of laboratory space and equipment
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of research facilities
Equipment operation
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment used in animal research
Communication and collaboration
- Foster effective communication between team members, collaborators and external partners

- Bacherlor’s degree in a relevant field (microbiology, biology, veterinary, animal science, etc)
- 5+ years of laboratory experience
- Experience in growing, maintaining and culturing microorganisms for analysis is preferred
- Knowledge of laboratory methods, such as microbiology and gene and protein expression analysis, bacterial enumeration, and implementing good laboratory practices
- Familiarity working in a biosafety level 2 laboratory
- Proficiency in data collection and reporting using relevant software/tools
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment
