Wood is recruiting for a Senior Contracts Manager to join its Projects, Process & Chemical team focused on engineering, procurement and construction of complex plants in the Chemical, Petrochemical and Energy industries. The position will be based in Corsico (Milan) office, with the possibility to work from home up to two days per week.

Manage, lead and deliver, with minimal supervision and all in accordance with Wood's group wide policies and approval processes.:

  • Functional activities within the assigned business(es) including drafting, review and negotiation of:
    • Confidentiality agreements / NDAs in accordance with business needs
    • Client contracts (bespoke and standard forms) including project specific contracts and frame agreements.
    • Drafting and review of financial instruments (Bonds / Letters of Credit, PCG's, Collateral Warranties) 
    • MOU’s and exclusive arrangements 
  • Prepare and discuss comments to the contracts in compliance with Wood’s contracting principles, to ensure the balance of risk is appropriate for the associated services and remuneration mode
  • Provide overviews of contract terms and associated issues to senior management and execution teams, as required
  • Manage the engagement with other functions to identify strategies to avoid / mitigate risks associated with contract terms and Contracting Policy deviations 
  • Provision of interpretation advice in relation to contract T&Cs and financial instruments (Bonds / Letters of Credit, PCG's, Collateral Warranties) to business, as required
  • Manage and support the timely provision of commercial deliverables (e.g., bonds, PCG’s, evidence of insurance) in accordance with contract requirements and Wood Policies
  • Manage and ensure timely provision of input to the development of contractual negotiation strategies in conjunction with commercial, bid team and key stakeholders
  • Manage and ensure timely provision of input to commercial handovers to the execution teams for successfully awarded contracts
  • Support the supply chain organization to customize and negotiate the General and Special Contract Conditions applicable to construction contracts and the  General Purchasing Conditions applicable to material supply whenever they need to be aligned with the main contract
  • Support Subcontracts and Procurement Department during negotiation with subcontractors / suppliers 
  • Day to day management of the Contracts team members
  • Functional personnel development and promotion of an environment of learning and empowerment.

Expected:

  • Degree in Law
  • Relevant Client Facing Contracting Experience: Minimum 15+ years 
  • Legally qualified (preferred but not required)
  • Dispute / Litigation experience (preferred)
  • Experience and proven track record of contract review, drafting and negotiation in a service company environment. 
  • Contract experience should cover engineering and construction projects in at least one of the following: oil and gas industr
