Your work will span both quick-turn pieces tied to the news cycle and more crafted campaign work that defines the voice of our brands. Across everything, your goal is to create work that is clear, distinctive, and emotionally engaging... whether you’re driving tune-in, building a brand, or launching new content.

This position is represented by the WGAE.

Responsibilities:

  • Concept, write, and produce original promos, campaigns, short-form content, and marketing/sales reels for multi-platform distribution.
  • Lead projects through all stages of production, from brief and concept through shoot, edit, and final delivery, including scriptwriting, producing, directing, edit supervision, music and footage selection, graphics, VO, and final QC.
  • Oversee multiple projects and edits concurrently, balancing priorities across parallel workflows while maintaining a high standard of creative quality.
  • Collaborate directly with Dateline editorial and senior leadership, taking ownership of projects and working autonomously from concept through final delivery.
  • Develop multiple creative approaches and present ideas clearly to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Execute both quick-turn topical work and longer-lead campaign and image pieces with equal strength.
  • Develop cross-platform creative, including social and digital, with an eye toward innovative and non-traditional approaches to promotion.
  • Help shape and maintain the voice and identity of NBC News brands, with a focus on Dateline.
  • Manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables across multiple projects.
  • Collaborate closely with creative leadership, editors, designers, and cross-functional partners, incorporating feedback into the work.
  • Stay current with evolving creative trends and apply them thoughtfully to your work.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in television, streaming, advertising, or a creative/social agency environment.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute high-quality creative across platforms.
  • Strong working knowledge of Avid Media Composer, After Effects, and Photoshop.
  • Deep understanding of media, marketing, and evolving audience consumption habits.
  • Ability to manage projects independently, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn new tools and technologies, with the adaptability to quickly integrate them into creative workflows and drive innovative solutions.
  • Willingness to work overtime and on weekends with short notice (it’s news).

Desired Characteristics:

  • A strong interest in current events and a curiosity about how news is told and consumed.
  • A sharp creative instinct and a clear point of view.
  • Strong editorial judgment, with an understanding of tone, pacing, and storytelling across formats.
  • Fluency in post-production workflows and a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to shifting priorities.
