VLSI Read Channel Validation (Entry-Level) Engineer

About our group:

 

The VLSI organization at Seagate delivers state of the art System-on-Chip ASICs, which are used in Seagate storage products – hard disk drives, solid state drives, and storage systems. Our group is part of the VLSI channel organization, and we are responsible for validation of the HDD Read Channel on new SoC’s. The Read Channel is a major part of the SoC that has the ECC encoder/decoder, Soft Output Viterbi detector and complete analog front end of the system. Our group works closely with the Seagate design centers, Read Channel designers and architects to ensure proper functionality and design quality of the Read Channel.

About the role - you will:

 

• Work with the Read Channel validation team to validate the functional capability 
• Povide feedback to drive teams and designers on current Read Channel signal capabilities.
• Test and validate Read Channel
• Program Read Channel
• Collect and analyze data
• Perform experiments to assess channel features.
• Be responsible for performing tests, analyzing the data, and documenting the test procedure and results.

Your experience includes:

 

 

• Classroom/lab experience using digital oscilloscopes and PC based test systems.
• Programming skills in languages such as Python, Matlab, or C/C++
• Familiarity with analog and digital circuit operations
• Electrical engineering degree BS degree (preferably in Electrical Engineering)

Colorado's 2021 Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB 19-085) requires we inform you of the estimated base salary range for this position: $63,000– $82,000. Actual salary range is based on fair market value of the role in the geography in which you live based on the requirements of the job and your skills. This posted salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, and Seagate reserves the right to adjust this range depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
