About the role

The Film Production and Editing Staff supports student film projects, class productions, live performance recordings and other campus initiatives by contributing in areas such as cinematography, sound recording, editing, and student mentorship. This position is essential to the success of academic outcomes that offer fully produced film projects and other film-related coursework and campus initiatives. Staff in this role also assist in filming and uploading acting classes, ensuring high-quality results and a supportive learning environment.   Primary Responsibilities: Pre-Production Support 
  • Under the guidance of the Film Production Project Lead, collaborate with faculty and student directors on shot lists, production planning, and location scouting 
  • Assist in training students on their crew roles and responsibilities 
 Production Support 
  • Serve in active production roles as needed and assigned by the Lead Film & Production Editing Staff Member, including: 
  • Cinematographer 
  • Location Sound Mixer 
  • Line Producer 
  • Lighting and other camera support 
  • Support, advise, and mentor student crews on set 
  • Equipment transportation 
 Post-Production Support  As assigned by the Lead Film & Production Editing Staff Member on specific projects and managed and directed by the Senior Manager of Film Production  
  • Logging and syncing footage 
  • Assembly, Rough Cut, Multiple Drafts, Final Cut (Project Dependent) 
  • Adding titles and credits 
  • Color correction and audio mixing 
  • Help guide students through editing workflows in Premiere Pro or similar NLEs (project dependent) 
  • Help train student crews and directors on post-production tasks (project dependent) 
 Responsibilities outside of Production Project Support 
  • Film camera courses, student scenes, and campus performances as assigned 
  • Perform editing on institutional projects and performance footage as needed 
  • Mentor and support Student Worker Camera Assistants 
  • Room and equipment operation and support in classroom, performance spaces, and occasional off-site locations, including lighting, projection, sound and any other necessary AV set up and/or filming needs 
  • Serve as support for courses, students, and instructors, while working in a collaborative office environment 
  • Foster a collaborative, professional environment where students are supported and challenged 
  • Other duties as assigned 
   Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in film/video production and post-production 
  • Proficiency with camera operation, sound recording, and editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, etc.) 
  • Ability to supervise and mentor students on set and in post-production environments 
  • Strong organizational and communication skills 
  • Flexibility to work variable hours, including occasional evenings or weekends for productions 
  • Bachelor's degree in film production, Media Arts, or a related field  
  • Minimum 2 years of professional film or media production experience 
  • Experience in camera operation, lighting, sound, and editing (Adobe Premiere Pro or similar). 
  Position Information:
  • The regular schedule for this role is during the daytime, evening and weekend hours. 20-29 hours per week. This is subject to change based on department needs.
  • The pay range for this position is $23-$25 hourly.
