Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member’s tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice.  These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

Position Overview

The Department of Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University seeks applications to fill two (2) tenure-track faculty positions in Data Science at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in mathematics or a closely related field, and a demonstrated potential for excellence in data science research and teaching. While candidates in all data science related areas will be considered, the department is particularly interested in applicants working in mathematical aspects of Artificial Intelligence and Scientific Machine Learning. Preference will be given to applicants whose work complements the existing research strengths within the department as well as in other departments at the Ohio State University.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required: Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related discipline by the time of employment. Candidates are expected to observe the general principle of building a culturally diverse intellectual community, in line with OSU’s Shared Values (see below).

Desired: The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated potential for excellence in data science research, and evidence of strong teaching ability and mentoring.
