Summary

The Cottonwood Service Center is seeking a Senior Survey Representative or Senior Survey Representative Senior to oversee and lead survey crews in conducting land and construction surveys for APS projects. This role supports transmission and distribution lines (overhead and underground), customer construction projects, land acquisitions/disposals, power plants, substations, switchyards, and specialized risk management surveys for APS’s legal department.

The Senior Survey Representative will ensure the accurate surveying and staking of APS facilities, providing critical support to project leaders, engineers, and designers. This position requires expertise in surveying methodologies, right-of-way assessments, and property boundary documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee survey crews in conducting land and construction surveys for APS infrastructure projects.
  • Perform staking and surveying of APS facilities to support project execution.
  • Produce precise survey notes and exhibits, accurately depicting the location of APS facilities relative to private property and right-of-way boundaries.
  • Support APS project leaders, engineers, and designers by providing accurate surveying data.
  • Conduct specialized risk management surveys in collaboration with the APS legal department.
  • Ensure compliance with surveying standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.

This role offers the opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects that enhance the reliability and expansion of APS’s energy network.

Minimum Requirements

Survey Representative 

A four-year Bachelors degree in Surveying Management or Surveying Technology from an accredited college or university plus three (3) years experience as Survey Representative/Party Chief.
In lieu of bachelors degree, a two-year Associates degree plus five (5) years experience in survey positions, of which three (3) years experience must be as Survey Representative/Party Chief; OR, high school/GED plus seven (7) years experience in survey positions, of which three (3) years experience must be as Survey Representative/Party Chief.

  • Valid Arizona drivers license.
  • Experience using AutoCAD software program.
  • Able to hike several miles in all weather conditions carrying survey equipment and material.

Survey Representative Senior

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

  • Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) certification.
  • Knowledge of survey mathematics (e.g., algebra, geometry, trigonometry).
  • Knowledge of the Public Land Survey System, and legal principles.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans and legal descriptions.
  • Ability to interpret and determine boundary control for field survey and easement acquisitions.
  • Experience in the use of standard and robotic total stations, aerial and side profiling LIDAR equipment, high-definition scanning equipment, Trimble GPS survey equipment and Trimble office software.
