The Opportunity
The College of Arts & Sciences (COAS) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide (ERAU-WW) invites applications for the position of Assistant Dean and tenured Associate Professor.
Please note that this is an in-person position at the Embry-Riddle Worldwide Headquarters located in Daytona Beach, FL.
The college seeks a dynamic, high-potential Assistant Dean, who, under the oversight of the Dean, will be responsible for various academic and administrative goals of the college as a whole. These responsibilities include curriculum quality management and continuous improvement, academic and administrative assessment and evaluation, specialized accreditation, and several aspects of student success specific to the needs of traditional and non-traditional learners. As a member of the Dean’s Leadership Team, the Assistant Dean will have a promising record of academic and administrative experience within the framework of the College of Arts & Sciences Strategic Guidance 2023-25.
In particular, the Assistant Dean will:
- Ensure quality management and continuous improvement for innovative, interdisciplinary curricula;
- Resolve curricular and academic program issues;
- Oversee course monitors;
- Coordinate and support academic and administrative assessment as well as accreditation activity;
- Oversee the PATHWAYS to Student Success Program and its components, and oversee other student success components as assigned by the Dean;
- Advance the college’s research agenda and establish a support structure for college research and pursuit of external grants;
- Implement a student research assistant program in coordination with the college’s Senior Research and Scholarship Mentor;
- Manage the Dean’s Student Award process;
- Processing student academic integrity violations, grade appeals, grievances, and other student issues in collaboration with the Dean of Students Office, Advisors, and Department Chairs;
- Maintaining and coordination of newly admitted students to the COAS New Student Orientation course;
- Composing a periodical student newsletter in collaboration with Advising;
- Serving as internal and external academic liaison;
- Representing the Dean at internal and external meetings and events as needed;
- Performing any other duties assigned by the Dean.
While the Assistant Dean will be based at Worldwide headquarters in Daytona Beach, FL, COAS faculty are located across the country. Candidates will not only need to demonstrate an ability to manage academic and administrative processes, projects, and initiatives in a broad interdisciplinary setting serving a diverse audience but also be highly adept at geographically distributed academic operations and asynchronous online education as well as traditional face-to-face education.
