Job Summary:

The Vanderbilt Health Executive Search Team is conducting a national search for a Director Human Resources Business Partner. Our Service Delivery Team supports VUMC employees and leaders with key Human Resource (HR) needs. We are able to help proactively consider many perspectives that result in best practice solutions, and we are available to provide coaching through all aspects of employment, guide employees and leaders to resolve employment concerns, clarify policy and answer employment questions, develop strategic initiatives for engagement, recognition and retention, assist in change, conflict management and mediating/facilitating conversations. The Director, HR Business Partners has primary responsibility for supporting Vanderbilt Health’s Ambulatory division.

Position Shift: 1st shift; Days

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build collaborative relationships within all levels of the organization to foster open communication and active listening.
  • Lead special projects, conduct research, analyze data, translate information, identify trends, and develop actionable items to increase retention and engagement.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive information that represents ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Plan and support organizational projects, strategic initiatives, and implementation plans.
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead a high-performing team with a focus on delivering world-class service.
  • Lead HR team and guide HR best practices, employee relations issues, compensation reviews, business trends in customer groups, and successful partnerships across business and human resource teams.
  • Resolve complex human resource and business challenges by evaluating data, engaging with others, providing new/various solutions, gaining agreement, implementing, and maintaining resolution.
  • Coaches healthcare leaders on effective leadership practices that create a workplace that fosters trust, collaboration, communication, active listening, and quality feedback in the production of high-performing teams.
  • Functions well in an environment with a governance structure that requires collaborative communication with multiple groups for feedback, recommendations, and implementation.

Technical Capabilities

  • Human Resources (Advanced): Knowledge of various components of human resources which may include human resources management, the recruitment process, skills development and tracking, benefits administration, training, compensation, organizational development, and compliance with associated federal/state regulations.
  • Business Results (Advanced): Ability to achieve business results while focusing on quality, customer satisfaction, and stewardship.
  • Leadership (Advanced): Formulates a vision while motivating & guiding employees promoting engagement. Leaders state precise goals, ensure the commitment of individuals to those goals, define the methods of measurement, and provide the incentive to accomplish measurable outcomes.
  • People Management (Advanced): Interacting, communicating, building relationships, and developing employees.
  • Compliance (Advanced): Understanding the rules, regulations, sanctions, and other statutory requirements, guidelines, and instructions relating to governing bodies and organizations, both internally and externally.
