Student Assistent* Applied Machine Learning

Excellent research and innovation are at the centre of the work of the HHI - Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications. We are a world leader in researching mobile and optical communication networks and systems as well as the coding of video signals and data processing. We are looking for a working student for the Applied Machine Learning (AML) group, within the Artificial Intelligence department. In the AML working group, new innovative solutions are researched and developed, which are used in current projects. Be a part of our team and come on a journey of research and innovation!

 

What you will do

• Testing new deep learning architectures

• Analysis and preprocessing of different data types, mostly climate- and weather data

• Orchestration and documentation of Deep Learning experiments

• Processing and visualization of huge amounts of data

• Applied science in exciting projects

• Preparation of presentations

• Review of relevant literature and data

• Testing software and frameworks

 

What you bring to the table

• Study of mathematics, computer science, physics, electrical engineering or similar with good to very good grades

• Strong programming skills in Python with knowledge of frameworks such as NumPy, Pytorch, Pandas etc

• Experience and Confidence in using Linux (Ubuntu) via the terminal

• Advanced knowledge in the area of Machine Learning

• Excitement about clean and tidy code

• Affinity for technologies

• Conscientiousness in implementing, testing and documenting algorithms

• Curiosity about a deeper understanding of Deep Learning architectures

• Interest in the intersection of AI and Climate science

The position is initially limited to 6 months. An extension is explicitly desired.

 

The monthly working time is 80 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
