About the role

Under direct supervision, responsible for the operation and maintenance of utility equipment in the institution's buildings.

  • Maintains and operates air compressors, fans, pumps, hot water converters, pressure reducing stations, air delivery systems, thermostats, and water conditioning equipment in the institute facilities.
  • Maintains heating and air conditioning equipment to include cleaning coils, replacing air filters, troubleshooting control circuits and repairing pumps.
  • Performs water testing, analysis, and documentation on utility systems.
  • Performs minor plumbing and electrical maintenance on equipment and building and plant utility systems.
  • Performs pipe fitting, painting, housekeeping, and other miscellaneous tasks and logs service provided.
  • May be required to fill in for absent shift personnel.
  • Trains for higher level positions.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, operations, repair, and maintenance (HVAC, electrical, steam).
  • Ability to interpret and follow instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading).
  • Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Ability to comply with institutional and job specific safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate in a courteous, pleasant and professional manner.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.

 

LICENSES:

  • Valid TX driver's license is required - must have a clear driving record.
