The role

The foundation of Etraveli Group’s success is an impressive proprietary booking engine. Optimization within this engine is the main task of the Sales department, and this optimization is to a large extent automated using machine learning (ML) models. Our business develops rapidly, and there is a constant need to develop new and modify existing ML applications. This development happens through a close collaboration between business stakeholders and data scientists.

To help facilitate this work, Etraveli Group is now recruiting a Machine learning and data expert to join the Sales department. The successful candidate will be located in Stockholm and will work in the interface between business stakeholders and data science teams. You will sort under the BI department and will keep a birds-eye view on all ML initiatives with Sales stakeholders.

Your explicit responsibilities will include

• explaining to stakeholders what ML can, and cannot do
• explaining subtleties of the business to data scientists
• making sure that the logic of the ML models reflects the business problems
• identifying potential novel use-cases
• assisting stakeholders with technical evaluation of ML content
• suggesting improvements of ML models from a mathematical perspective
• identifying where existing models can be used for new use-cases
• act as main stakeholder for specific strategic or data related projects

Requirements

To be successful in this role you must

• have a master in a quantitative subject, like engineering, physics, or math
• have a strong interest in business
• have some documented experience in ML and coding - perhaps from a master thesis, a hobby project or professionally

The business interest is crucial. Learning the inner workings of our systems will take time, and will be impossible if you do not enjoy the ride. But if you get excited by solving real life business questions, and your academic background is part of your toolbox to achieve that, then a more rewarding environment will be hard to find.
