Junior Accountant

The junior accountant will be a member of the US Financial Controllership team and will be responsible for assisting with month-end closing, reconciliations, data entry, invoicing, and collections across the US business, and a few global entities.
Reporting to the Finance Manager (US), you will demonstrate capability in financial accounting and reporting. Your responsibilities will include providing financial and administrative support for the organization. You will help facilitate month-end, working closely with the AP and AR accountants. Ensuring that all invoices and bills are in the Sage Intact system (DGA Group ERP system).
You will also be involved in our cash collections process. Updating schedules and reports utilized by the team to identify client escalations and manage the team’s inboxes.
The successful candidate will be comfortable communicating with colleagues of all levels across all functions. This role is perfect for an outcome-focused individual with a ‘can-do’/hands-on attitude, who is looking to grow their accounting and commercial experience in a professional services environment.
The role is being recruited during an ongoing finance transformation project. As such, this is an exciting and unique opportunity to be involved at a critical period of change in shaping the function's future.
Location
Washington, D.C. (hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office)
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation and posting of journal entries in the general ledger.
- Perform account reconciliations, including bank, intercompany, and balance sheet accounts.
- Support the month-end and year-end close process by ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Process vendor invoices, employee expense reports, and payments in accordance with company policy.
- Assist with billing, cash application, and collections as needed.
- Collaborate with the finance team to improve processes and ensure compliance with company policies and GAAP.
- Other adhoc activities as directed by the members of the US Finance team.
The successful candidate
- 0-2 years of relevant accounting experience (internship experience a plus).
- Solid understanding of accounting processes and procedures.
- Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers, high degree of accuracy and diligence.
- A fast-paced learner who can hit the ground running
- A team player who demonstrates curiosity and is action oriented.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in accounting and/or related field.
- 0-2 years of relevant accounting experience (internship experience a plus).
- Experience working in a professional services or similar nature global business.
- Understanding of US GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Experience with Sage Intact – preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
