The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of constituent engagement, donor research and solicitation, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Health Systems. We are currently seeking an Associate Director of Alumni Engagement - Leadership Engagement.
The Leadership Engagement team focuses on cultivating alumni and constituent volunteer leaders, creating experiences and events for key constituents and alumni groups, expanding opportunities for alumni and constituents to connect with Emory and deepening relationships among these key audiences. This role will execute programs to enhance alumni leadership development and community engagement, fostering meaningful connections between Emory alumni, the university, and the greater community. This position will oversee strategic programs including, but not limited to, the Emory Cares alumni community service initiative, Emory Community Leadership Impact Program (CLIP), Emory Community Labs program, and industry-focused alumni leadership opportunities, reporting to the Managing Director of Alumni Engagement – Leadership Engagement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates, maintains, and enhances the relationship between alumni and the university and among alumni themselves.
- Creates/manages strategy for recruiting, cultivating, and engaging alumni through class reunions, events, and programs for a specific school or unit.
- Plans and develops communication methods directed at alumni on an on-going basis.
- Recruits, cultivates and provides direction to volunteer leadership.
- Represents designated program/school within the division.
- Fosters relationships with other campus offices, schools/divisions.
- Monitors program budget.
- May manage event budgets.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
In addition to the duties outlined above, the Associate Director may be required to:
- Represent the department or serve as primary contact working with other departments across the division/University.
- Maintain information on selected alumni and prospects including contact reports in CRM system.
- Meet division metrics for visit preparation, qualification, contact reports, visits, referrals, and accurate coding using the CRM system.
- Track and evaluate program metrics and produce reports on program and event participants to provide an analysis of populations served and inform on goals for respective volunteer programs.
- Manage an alumni volunteer advisory council or board.
- Manage technology/information and master database software and applications with the ability to assess data used to determine the use of resources.
- Collaborate with campus and community partners to enhance and elevate alumni engagement initiatives.
- Develop and/or contribute to learning and development content tailored for Emory alumni.
- Research potential prospects for volunteer and engagement opportunities.
- Maintain knowledge/expertise of best practices and current trends for alumni and community engagement.
- Some night and weekend work is required.
- Some travel may be necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree and three years of alumni engagement, event planning, public relations or other related experience OR an equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful candidates will possess strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate a complex work environment.
- Ability to build relationships across a university or community setting.
- Commitment to delivering excellent customer service, the ability to work collaboratively, and comfort working with ambiguity.
- Familiarity with nonprofit, civic, and community organizations, within and/or outside the Atlanta area.
