Job Overview
Program Manager, Office of Threat Assessment - Georgetown University. The Program Manager for the Office of Threat Assessment serves a vital role in managing the operations of Georgetown University’s multiple Threat Assessment Teams. The Program Manager reports directly to the university’s Director of Threat Assessment and works closely with the Director of Threat Assessment to provide administrative and logistical support for the university’s behavioral threat assessment teams. The Program Manager has primary responsibility for meeting notetaking, case tracking and documentation, and case-specific and general social media monitoring. Other responsibilities include planning training sessions, creating and updating information materials, and maintaining an awareness of research and case developments within the field of behavioral threat assessment and management.
Duties include but are not limited to:
● Support case investigations, assessments, and management planning through notetaking, task assignments, and case documentation.
● Coordinate follow-up actions and monitor ongoing cases to ensure interventions are implemented and adjusted as needed.
● Track all incoming reports of concerns and threats, screening of incidents, and full case assessments for annual tracking purposes.
● Develop educational materials and outreach initiatives to promote awareness of the threat assessment process and a culture of shared responsibility.
● Stay current on emerging trends, research, and best practices in threat assessment and campus safety.
● Collect, analyze, and report program metrics to evaluate effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
● Prepare reports for the Director’s briefings for senior leadership and relevant governance bodies.
Work Interactions
The Program Manager position reports directly to and works closely with the Director of Threat Assessment. It is a non-supervisory position. The position may involve occasional evening or on-call availability (by phone or Zoom). The position occasionally involves exposure to sensitive or distressing information. The Program Manager serves a vital role in supporting Georgetown University’s violence prevention efforts, guided by the university’s core Jesuit values.
Requirements and Qualifications
Required Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in psychology, criminal justice, social work, public administration, higher education, or a related field.
● Demonstrated 3-5 years of experience coordinating or supporting a multi-disciplinary team such as a threat assessment, behavioral intervention, risk management, or campus safety team.
● Knowledge of behavioral threat assessment principles and multidisciplinary team processes.
● Strong understanding of confidentiality, privacy laws, and ethical decision-making in higher education.
● Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and written communication skills.
● Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain discretion, and manage sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
● Master’s degree in a related field.
● Formal training or certification in behavioral threat assessment (e.g., ATAP CTM).
● Experience working in a higher education setting.
● Experience with case management systems or incident reporting platforms.
● Familiarity with trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and equity-centered practices.
