What this role is:
We are looking for an experienced Sr. IT Manager- Cloud Platform that will help our team establish DevOps best practices while also supporting and maturing our cloud infrastructure. You will help implement continuous integration and deployment processes, develop IaC automation and contribute to our maturing micro-service architecture and implementation. The ideal candidate will have a strong customer driven focus on providing the tooling that enables our internal IT development teams.
What you’ll bring to the table:
This role enables the development of the cloud platform and associated software delivery capabilities. This includes clearing team barriers, identifying and removing potential risks, and surfacing accomplishments and hindrances in valuable and actionable ways. The successful candidate will help leadership use this information in strategic decisions to deliver the correct value at the right time. This role also enables and improves Genesys IT operations by providing Agile and DevOps coaching across teams to improve business outcomes
Some details about what you’ll do:
- Lead the team with a customer-centric mindset, focused on delivering high-quality outcomes for our internal engineering and IT application development customers.
- Set priorities for the team in alignment with enterprise priorities, team strategies and goals, and overall effectiveness of the technologies, services, and capabilities.
- Establish and manage technology strategies, with a demonstrated ability to convert strategy into plans of action.
- Demonstrated experience with AWS services inclusive of: EC2, EKS, S3, RDS, Route53, VPC’s, CloudWatch/CloudTrail, Secrets Manager, SQS Queues
- Recruit, direct, and develop staff, maximizing their contributions, professional growth, and their ability to build and sustain a team culture of high-performance and quality outcomes.
- Establish and grow relationships with other teams including infrastructure, application development, cybersecurity, cloud engineering, and enterprise architecture teams.
- Create and optimize technology and processes in partnership with other technology teams, compliance, and information security to ensure systems are designed and operated with security in mind.
- Drive innovation, experimentation, automation, optimization, and modernization throughout the technologies and capabilities.
- Empower team to research and recommend long-term solutions aligned with IT goals and plans.
- Manage technology ownership including activities such as forecasting, budgeting, contract negotiations, licensing, and vendor management.
- On-call availability outside of business hours providing technology leadership for major technology incidents or production outages, serving as a point of contact for on-call staff and communicating impact and urgency to senior leadership.
- Lead, develop, train, mentor and provide coaching and guidance to cloud engineering staff.
Requirements:
- 10 years of directly related cloud management experience
- Ability to balance, prioritize multiple projects, and remain calm under pressure.
- 5+ years Kubernetes and Helm experience
- 5+ years Git + CI/CD (Github preferred)
- 8+ years Major cloud provider tooling (AWS preferred)
- 8+ years configuration management and Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, AWS CDK)
- Agile / Lean development methodologies
- Experience in leading a team of Cloud Engineers toward company milestones
- Coach and mentor agile and DevOps practitioners to better develop robust practices
- Comfortable with preparing and deliv
