Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer in Clearfield, UT to support ICBM Sustainment.  

What you will get to do:

The selected Staff Engineer Systems will be a part of the Systems Engineering and Test team working on the Ground Subsystem Support Contract. The candidate’s responsibilities will include the following: developing and updating Technical Orders; integrating; serving as a subject matter expert with respect to Weapon System function and classification; contributing to Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) labor estimates; and planning weekly OU-level engineering trainings related to weapon system characteristics and specialty engineering domains. The candidate will work with program leadership and technical teams develop solutions to complex technical problems, identify and mitigate technical risks, and ensure that engineering activities are performed in accordance with industry standards and government regulations. Occasional travel will be required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with 12 years of experience; or master’s degree with 10 years of experience; or PhD with 8 years of experience
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years. 
  • Must have the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs. 
  • 2 years of MMIII ICBM experience
  • 2 years of experience with specialty engineering such as Interfaces, Nuclear Surety, Requirements and Training
  • 2 years of experience modifying or developing technical procedures for hardware and software in support of USAF sustainment and maintenance projects
  • 2 years of experience leading small teams consisting of multi-disciplined systems engineering
  • 2 years of experience supporting labor estimate development for small program efforts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in engineering or a related field
  • Support engineering with TO baseline using an active TODO account and other information resources for military standard
  • Experience leading labor estimate development for medium to large labor estimate efforts
  • Experience coordinating, preparing for, and conducting peer training on Technical Order and other Systems Engineering subjects.
  • Experience as a Systems Integrator
  • Experience in all stages of the engineering process from proposal and requirements analysis to verification testing and troubleshooting.
  • Experience sustaining engineering data packages to include specifications, drawings, interface documents
  • Experience sustaining long term service life systems through application of logistics practices including component performance monitoring, spares
