Job Description
The Senior Director, Enterprise Architecture will provide overall leadership to the Architecture capability within IT and create, develop and further enhance the entire technology landscape across Adtalem infusing new leading-edge technologies with existing technologies and constantly looking at ways to simplify our tech estate yet keeping it modern and relevant as well as to an extent future-proof. Develop an enterprise IT architecture vision and strategy that aligns with the business strategies of Adtalem Group business areas and meets both the operational and strategic requirements of the group.
This role is remote but does require minimal travel to onsite meetings.
Responsibilities:
- Develop an enterprise IT architecture vision and strategy that aligns with the business strategies of Adtalem Group business areas and meets both the operational and strategic requirements of the Group.
- Evaluate and communicate alternative strategies along with business benefits of each to the IT Leadership and other teams within IT in order to determine the strategy that is most appropriate to IT and the Group business needs.
- Derive inputs from standard business information models to understand the business direction and needs, and align architecture and standards with these to drive business success.
- Direct development of enterprise-wide architecture and processes, guide technology directions, and set appropriate strategies, policies, standards and practices to govern the IT landscape of the Group.
- Direct the development of technology standards for IT and the Group.
- Work with IT Leadership and Extended leadership to produce proposals for introduction of new technologies, and ensure these are reviewed by a cross-organizational set of senior stakeholders for approval.
- Be accountable for the approval and sign off of any proposals for introduction of new technologies, new products acquired, and new applications developed in IT after ensuring that there is enough impact analysis.
- In conjunction with relevant technology experts, enable transformation of technology in the Group through introduction of new technologies or retirement of obsolete technologies through appropriate investment justification and recommendations to senior management.
- Lead and direct a team of solution architects, technical architects and systems architects that delivers all information, application and technology architecture designs to the IT project delivery and development teams and ensure these are aligned to the overall Enterprise Architecture principles and framework.
- Establish a collaborative relationship with Software Engineering to ensure that the Engineering function develop technical designs and solutions that are strongly aligned to solution architecture.
- Ensure that Architecture guides and assists Software Engineering to produce solution designs that follow best architectural practices and the architectural principles defined for the Group.
- Contribute to IT strategy by providing inputs on matters relating to Enterprise Architecture and standards. Ensure that feedback from the rest of the IT teams related to architecture is incorporated in the input to IT Strategy in order to ensure that changes in IT Strategy truly reflect the needs of the overall IT user community.
- Implement and manage the technology solutions lifecycle process across all applications and technologies in order to effectively manage the introduction and retirement of applications and technologies as well as their lifecycle.
- Collaborate very closely with DPM and Portfolio Technology Product Leadership to develop business architecture for the Group business areas. Ensure the various business architectures are collated to develop the enterprise level business architecture for the Group that will act as the base reference architecture for all business IT activity, as well as align with the other areas of enterprise architecture.
