Purpose: Directs and leads a group of digital campaigners in using digital tools to 

1) help workers build power and win their union and 

2) build a movement that supports workers efforts.

Campaigns & Organizing

  • Works collaboratively across multiple disciplines and departments to produce forward-thinking and winning digital campaign plans
  • Designs strategies and tactics that help organize more workers, win union recognition, demand higher wages, improve contracts, etc.
  • Contributes to social media, email and SMS plans to advance key campaign goals, while also centering the health of the union’s digital properties
  • Leads online-to-offline worker organizing efforts
  • Oversees digital ad buys, website development, etc. as needed to advance organizing goals

Movement Building & Messaging

  • Works closely with deputy directors to integrate overarching messaging into specific campaigns
  • Identifies opportunities for campaigns to build the movement for union rights and advance a unified narrative
  • Leverages digital tools to mobilize the public in support of workers, while inspiring more workers to act
  • Oversees reporting and various data to determine impact of program

Management & Administration

  • Oversees ads budgets, designs digital campaign budgets
  • Serves as part of the senior management team of SEIU’s Digital Department.
  • Works to develop, mentor and grow the abilities of staff while creating a respectful environment
  • Holds team accountable and inspires team to high standards
  • Directs recruiting, reviewing, and recommending hiring for digital communications staff.
  • Directly responsible for retention of digital staff, including training, feedback, reviews, skill and career development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of the work of the department.

Contacts: Must be able to represent the International Union with local leaders, members, staff, and outside organizations utilizing independent judgment and the highest level of professionalism.

This position interfaces with highest-level organizational and external contacts, including:

  • SEIU campaign leadership, International senior staff, project and program managers, field and organizing directors, local union officers and staff.
  • Vendors: consultants, pollsters, freelancers, video and multimedia producers, advertising agencies.
  • Ensures that sophisticated choices are made about appropriate vendors and support services.

Direction & Decision Making: This position reports to the Deputy of  Integrated Organizing Communications  and works with extreme independence.

Qualifications & Experience:: Five to seven years of related work experience or a combination of education and experience that would provide for the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
