General Trades Worker

 

The purpose of this position is to perform preventive maintenance, installation, construction, remodeling and repair work on plant facilities, services and production equipment. Responsible for utilizing a variety of skills including carpenter, millwright, pipefitter, welder, tinner and mechanic. Works from complex three-dimensional blueprints, sketches, written and verbal instructions. 

 

Purpose of Role:

• Performs maintenance, installation, construction, remodeling, major overhauls, and repairs to all types of plant facilities and equipment.
• Maintains production machinery and equipment requiring the use of trades and mechanics tools such as: Drill press, grinder, welder, saws, pipe threader, cutting torch, belter, shear, bending brake, forklift truck, hand tools, etc.

 

 

Demonstrates competency in the following areas:

• Machine maintenance and repair
• Rigging equipment and handling
• Installation of machinery and equipment
• Pipefitting
• Cutting and welding
• Sheet metal working
• General Carpentry
  

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Performing various maintenance tasks on plant facilities and equipment.
• Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
• Responsible for understanding and following applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory consideration.
  
  

 

Education & Experience:

• New York State Journeyman card in applicable trade is required.
• 2 to 4 years’ experience is preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing maintenance is desired.
• Requires the willingness and ability to work off shifts (2nd and/or 3rd), holidays and weekends.

The starting pay for this position is ​$36.12 hourly rate.  Compensation and benefits available for this position are dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
