Job Description:
The accounting manager position oversees the accounting and day to day financial activity for corporate and Flagship groups. This includes maintaining checklists for close, processing AP and journal entries. Additionally, the accounting manager will contribute to the production and review of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of internal controls designed to mitigate risk. Assist in other accounting, audit support, financial, and organizational duties as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Management
Oversee the accounting operations of Corporate and Flagship entities Contribute to special project implementations for IT systems, financial systems, other growth-driven system initiatives Hire and manage staff accountant Proactively present solutions to challenges that arise
Reporting
Compile and timely delivery of financial statements at the corporate and Flagship levels Produce information for financial auditors to assist annual audit process Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics for Corporate and Flagship Provide financial analyses at the Corporate and Flagship levels for fluctuations to budget and prior periods Assist in consolidation of other markets Maintain or review balance sheet reconciliations
Transactions
Perform journal entries as needed for corporate and flagship entities Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions Perform AP duties for Corporate and Flagship as needed Monitor accounts payable activities ensuring strong supplier relationships are maintained Record bank transactions
Compliance
Lead corporate support of transactional information to external auditors for the annual audit Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings including 1099 filings
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administrator or related discipline
EXPERIENCE:
7+ years of progressively increasing accounting / financial reporting experience in a for a multi-location enterprise or division of a large corporation.
3+ years of experience with a large or mid-tier national accounting firm.
Corporate accounting experience with established expertise in multi-entity consolidations, functioning in a high-transaction environment, use of estimation processes, and purchase / acquisition accounting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Strong grounding and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, and application of GAAP in preparation of internal and external financial statements.
Solid understanding of technical accounting issues, including application of ASC 606, ASC 842, purchase accounting for acquisitions, consolidations.
Excellent spreadsheet and automation abilities.
Workday systems experience a plus
Ability to collaborate with peers and colleagues in the organization.
Ability to analyze strengths and areas of opportunity and lead cogent planning with both individuals and groups in developing and implementing successful outcomes.
Collaborative style that emphasizes the value of communication, service, transparency, and teamwork.
Knowledge of managed care and value-based care financial concepts (claim reserving, incentive calculations, etc.) preferred.
