The Pediatric Cardiology team at the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital brings patients the latest in heart research and treatments while delivering personalized, compassionate care to each family. We offer comprehensive services from diagnosis of prenatal conditions to treatment for adults with congenital heart disease.
Job Summary
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care and formulate plan of care in collaboration with physician, nursing staff, and the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the Credentials Committee.
Communicate follow-up plan/disposition with the follow-up health care provider.
Prescribe and evaluate pharmacological therapies according to protocol.
Attend both high and low- risk deliveries as needed.
Stabilize and transport patients as needed.
Demonstrate in-depth understanding of current professional and legal trends, concepts, and issues related to practice.
Identify educational needs of family members and assist with teaching as appropriate.
Ensure that appropriate systems and resources are in place to maintain established standards of care.
Participate in self and peer evaluation to improve quality of care.
Participate in the development, review, and evaluation of policies and procedures.
Participate in developing and implementing QI monitoring.
Participate in providing in-service and outreach education program.
Act as resource for clinical skills for staff on or of the unit.
May participate in clinical research projects conducted by supervising physicians.
Serve as preceptor to APP students.
Interprets assessments, treatments, outcomes, work and disability status, and screenings in a thorough manner. Maintains clear and concise records for individual and corporate clients to meet the requirements of the department, the company and any applicable standards or laws.
Analyzes test data or images to inform diagnosis or treatment.
Designs patient education programs that include information required to make informed health care and treatment decisions.
