The Ultrasound department, also known as Sonography, specializes in imaging that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the body’s internal structures. Obstetric Ultrasound: Monitoring fetal development during pregnancy. Abdominal Ultrasound: Evaluating organs like the liver, kidneys, gallbladder, and pancreas. Cardiac Ultrasound (Echocardiography): Assessing heart function and detecting abnormalities. Vascular Ultrasound: Checking for blood clots, blockages, or circulation issues in veins and arteries. Musculoskeletal Ultrasound: Evaluating soft tissue injuries, joint abnormalities, and fluid collections.
With limited supervision, provides health care services and departmental efficiency in the Ultrasound department using sonic energy to assist with diagnosis or treatment. Performs ultrasound related procedures, computer processing and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by Radiologist or a licensed independent practitioner. Supports imaging leadership with ongoing coaching/education of ultrasound technologists, assists with internal quality programs, and collaborates to recruit and retain talent. Exercises professional judgment in performance of service and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics. Recognizes various patient conditions in order to provide appropriate patient care to ensure successful completion of the exam or procedure.

Ultrasound Team Leader
Responsibility: Image Quality Assurance
Essential Duties:
Produces high-quality diagnostic images.
Documents image release and confirms images are archived in PACS.
Sends images to tele-radiology when required.
Participates in image peer review.
Assists with ACR accreditation and equipment/software evaluation.
Responsibility: Quality Control in the Work Area
Essential Duties:
Orders and restocks supplies.
Reports equipment issues and safety concerns.
Coordinates equipment maintenance with vendors and Lead.
Supports EHR updates and workflow improvements.
Manages resources, inventory, and budget-related needs.
Maintains current knowledge of regulatory standards.
Responsibility: Executes Patient Care Duties
Essential Duties:
Verifies orders, patient identity, and history.
Documents incidents and time-out procedures.
Follows exam protocols and provides preliminary interpretations as allowed.
Coordinates exams with nursing and transport.
Monitors patients throughout exams and assists providers as needed.
Responsibility: Safety / Policy and Procedures
Essential Duties:
Follows dress code and uses required safety equipment.
Attends mandatory safety and training programs.
Adheres to safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines.
Participates in fire drills and emergency preparedness activities.
