The Opportunity
The Cybersecurity Strategy Planner plays a critical role in shaping Abbott’s long‑term security posture by developing forward‑looking strategies, policies, and control frameworks. This role helps safeguard the organization against emerging cyber threats and provides subject matter expertise across the project lifecycle. As part of the Cybersecurity Architecture team within Integrated Security Risk Management, you will influence enterprise‑wide security direction.
What You’ll Work On
Develop cybersecurity strategies and multi‑year roadmaps addressing current and anticipated security challenges.
Collaborate with stakeholders to author and update cybersecurity policies and control standards aligned to evolving best practices.
Identify emerging risks and contribute to the design of policies, controls, and processes that are:
Technology agnostic
Based on business requirements, risk profile, and organizational goals
Developed with stakeholder input
Comprehensive, efficient, pragmatic, and future‑focused
Define business requirements for cybersecurity tools and lead objective evaluations of potential vendor solutions.
Serve as a cybersecurity subject matter expert on strategic IT project teams.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field—or equivalent work experience.
3–8 years of security design and implementation experience.
Experience developing and documenting strategic cybersecurity solution roadmaps.
Ability to explain, advocate for, and address cybersecurity requirements within cross‑functional teams.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build consensus and secure stakeholder buy‑in across business units.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree (or equivalent).
Certification or equivalent experience with security architecture frameworks (e.g., SABSA, TOGAF).
Advanced information security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, relevant SANS certifications).
Experience presenting to executive audiences.
Experience in the medical device or life sciences industries.
Experience conducting risk assessments.
Experience in threat modeling.
