Summary:

Momentive is seeking a sales professional in the Aviation/Aerospace sector to spearhead new business development. This role goes beyond account management—it's about becoming a trusted technical advisor, identifying market needs, and guiding product development to expand our presence in the industry. You will develop new accounts and deepen existing relationships. Act as a technical expert, influencing both OEMs and executive leadership. Identify market opportunities and guide new technology development. Focus on growth through new customers and innovations, not maintaining a sales territory. The Aerospace/Aviation Technical Sales Engineer will be part of the Electronic Materials (EM) Business unit. EM covers a broad range of markets including Optical Bonding for video displays, Aerospace/Aviation/Defense, Consumer Electronics and Automotive. Momentive has a significant presence in the Avi/Aero markets and our products have a deep history of usage and adoption within this market. We have recently added significant resources to create new grades and support new customers in the Aerospace/Aviation market.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Identify new opportunities where our EM business can add value/solve problems within the Aerospace market, with a particular focus on companies involved with rockets, satellites, and space exploration. 

  • Deliver technical presentations directly to key customer prospects and work to promote our existing and new materials with marketing teams.

  • Utilize “DFV” opportunity screening methodology to down select the most attractive opportunities to for EM to pursue

  • Attend tradeshows to promote our EM materials and identify new accounts that may have a need for our solutions.

  • Lead programs and work independently from remote office with ability to domestically and internationally travel up to 50% of time.

  • Utilize knowledge of existing OEMs/Tiers and leverage existing or new relationships to identify challenges that Momentive’s materials can solve (Low volatility, extreme temp/heat resistance, low temperature stability, etc). 

  • Work with OEM/Tier suppliers to “spec in”, qualify, and negotiate commercial terms including pricing.

  • Ability to interface with customers to determine if a relevant existing grade solves their technical challenges or drive new products by working with the Aerospace Market Segment Leader.

  • Meet business growth expectations by developing new accounts and/or increasing business with existing accounts.

  • Provide technical support to new and existing customers and become a trusted advisor that these design engineers come to rely on for solutions to their design challenges.

  • Leverage and work with our Distribution network to promote sales of our products and be the technical expert when our distribution partners need technical assistance at an OEM/Tier.

  • Administrative responsibilities will include entering sample requests, working with Product Management to set pricing, and utilizing CRM (SalesForce.com) to capture leads/opportunities and call reports.
