Director, Hospice

Reporting to the Executive Director, Hospice, the Director, Hospice is responsible for providing oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Providence SoundHomeCare and Hospice facility and ensures the quality of care provided. Additionally, the Director is responsible for promoting cost-effective delivery of care and for representing the facility/agency to other professionals in the community. The Director determines possible directions for new program development and for ensures compliance with applicable regulations. The Director, Hospice helps to define and achieve facility/agency goals and objectives, including maximizing the financial viability.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversee all services provided by Hospice including quality and coordination of care as delivered by qualified interdisciplinary field personnel to patients/families requiring Hospice Services.
- Participate in the development and coordination of the strategic growth plan including monitoring operating budgets, formulating long-range plans and business plans as appropriate for existing and new services.
- Ensure that the services provide optimal care at the lowest necessary cost and within budget.
- Oversee the management team responsible for Clinical Operations, Grief Support Services, Access Services, and Facilities/Administration.
- Oversee interviewing and hiring, coaching, counseling and the disciplinary process including termination when indicated.
- Lead the ministry in developing, planning and implementing programs that reflect the philosophy, mission and principles of practice and goals of Providence and Hospice of Seattle.
- Identify and resolve ministry staffing and staff development needs in coordination with the management team, coordinate with VP Hospice Service Line for staffing approval process.
- Identify trends and recurring issues in ministry’s provision of care; integrate and introduce new processes and procedures in partnership with appropriate staff.
- Ensure regulatory compliance in all areas of the ministry; participate in development of policies and procedures to ensure compliance in accordance with standard PHOS procedures, Medicare Conditions of Participation and other regulatory agencies.
- Participate in relevant community education and networking opportunities to promote public awareness of agency programs, health and industry issues.
- Oversee adherence to all policies and procedures including regulatory requirements with regard to infection control, practicing universal precautions, sanitation, and safety and disaster preparedness.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Social Work, or Master's Degree in Healthcare with Hospice experience; or equivalent education/experience
- Master’s degree in another healthcare field with hospice experience may be considered.
- 2 years of experience in Hospice supervisory / management positions
- Proficient in using computers, electronic medical records and Microsoft Office Suite programs required.
- Upon request: Driving may be necessary as part of this role. Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Caregivers will be expected to provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request.
- Upon hire: Hospice certification or advanced certification (preferred)
The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
