​The Associate Manager, Engineering Test Lab is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and participating in the work activities of the test lab. In addition, this position will assist with developing specialized testing equipment and preparing qualification test plans and design.
• Maintain ISO 17025 Accreditation for Klein Tools primary Lab Locations.
• Manage lab test equipment and directly lead progression of lab test capabilities.
• Train engineering staff to use test equipment and systems efficiently and effectively.
• Prioritize test lab projects in alignment with the needs and strategic goals of the organization.
• Assist engineers in preparing qualification test plans and design as well as build test fixtures, run tests, and create test reports.
• Provide observations to help interpret test results and provide analysis to product development teams.
• Perform competitive product testing and manage inventory of all test samples consistent with current retention period guidelines.
• Minimize negative financial impact within the various facilities during project implementation.
• Work with the engineering staff to plan and develop any specialized equipment that would be unique to the Company's product testing needs.
• Maintain close contact with associated team leaders, business unit managers and executive team.
• Assist with the development of standardized lab test methods and processes.
• Supervise and direct the activities of support staff, monitor and appraise performance, and counsel staff as needed. Review and recommend raises and promotions for existing employees to department manager.
• Perform other tasks, assignments, and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and five (5) years of experience in a test lab environment.
• Must possess excellent technical, analytical, planning and organizational skills. Must have demonstrated experience facilitating complex projects and solutions with multiple interactions. Must possess conflict resolution skills and demonstrated team leadership experience. Must have strong oral and written skills with the ability to present both technical analysis and financial based justifications allowing further decision making within all levels of the organization. Ability to function in an environment of changing priorities, goals and direction often amid stressful conditions and under tight time constraints.

Physical Demand Requirements


​Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


If based in Illinois, this role has an annual salary range of $95,000-$125,000. In addition to salary, you’re eligible for competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Klein Tools Inc.
