Major Responsibilities:

• Provides advanced life support to patients according to established standards and guidelines.
• Poor documentation and adherence to EMS protocols.
• Poor documentation but does have adherence to EMS protocols.
• Accurate and legible documentation that adherence to EMS protocols.
• Very detailed documentation with clear adherence to EMS protocols.
• Very detailed, legible, descriptive documentation with strict adherence to EMS protocols.
• Serves as a role model and resource person to other EMS personnel.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

Must hold a current Georgia Paramedic License. Must be certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support as well as Advanced Cardiac Life Support and must maintain certification at all times with no lapse. Must maintain a valid Georgia Drivers License and maintain a driving record that meets the requirements set forth by the Hospital Driving Policy. Must be aware and follow current Federal and Georgia laws with regards to emergency medical services. Must meet Hospital requirements for criminal background check.

Education Required:

Minimum education of a High School Diploma or GED is required..

Experience Required:

Minimum of 1-3 years of experience as a Paramedic.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Must be able to utilize initiative and independent action when required within the general framework of professional assignment. Must be able to utilize good judgment in evaluating alternatives in unorthodox situations. Must have good verbal communication skills. Must have the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with physicians, patients and family members. Must be able to work with accuracy under stress and emergency situations. Discretion required in handling confidential information. Must be able to consistently follow prescribed treatment protocol for patient conditions.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Must be able to use visual near and distance acuity. Must have verbal ability to communicate in person and over the phone or radio. Must be able to assist co-workers in transfers and transport of supplies and/or equipment using good body mechanics. Must have functional range of motion of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spines, upper and lower extremities with a grip strength based upon the specific job evaluation levels.
