Job Description

The division chief is primarily responsible for leading the program development, USNWR efforts, and overseeing the clinical delivery within a specialty or service. This role provides the clinical oversight, quality and focus of the specialty or service.

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Children’s) and Emory University School of Medicine (Emory) are seeking a visionary and collaborative physician leader to serve as Division Chief, General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. The Division Chief will lead a dynamic team of faculty dedicated to excellent and innovative clinical care, education, research, and advocacy for underserved communities.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to multi-dimensional growth at Children’s and Emory related to general pediatrics and adolescent medicine initiatives and priorities reflecting all three of our missions of excellent clinical care, education, and discovery. This leader will work closely with Children’s community primary pediatric care network, inclusive of our clinically integrated network, The Children’s Care Network (TCCN).

Principal duties and responsibilities:

Together, Children’s and Emory strive to promote compassionate, evidence-based care for all children, support outstanding education for pediatric trainees, and foster cutting-edge research/innovation. We seek to advance a culture of excellence and accountability, aiming to be a leader in advancing primary care pediatrics. To that end, the ideal Division Chief will be a skilled clinician and administrator with a strong reputation and track record of mentorship, clinical service, and scholarship. Within the first 18 months, they will have made significant progress in the following areas:

Administrative

  • Become established as a trusted, effective, and highly collaborative leader among division faculty and staff as well as administrative leaders at Children’s and Emory.
  • Codify a divisional leadership team that taps into the expertise and enthusiasm of current faculty with respect to clinical services, education, research, and advocacy.
  • Refine the Division’s vision and strategies for primary care, inpatient pediatric medicine at Hughes Spaulding, and adolescent medicine to contribute to and align with both Children’s and Emory at Grady, balancing missions of patient care, research, and teaching.

Clinical Care

  • Oversee and advance the delivery of culturally informed care across the Division, including two-generation approaches and behavioral health integration working closely with the Division of Behavioral and Mental Health.
  • Support expansion of primary care access, including through School Based Health Centers and Adolescent Medicine, and consider development of specialized clinics (e.g., foster care or dedicated clinics for patients with medical and social complexity) to meet th
