Job Summary: 

This Senior Manager, Contracts will report to the Executive Director, Corporate Counsel and provide legal support to the Legal Department and various related business teams in a fast-paced, fast-growth biotechnology company. This position will closely collaborate with members of the Legal team, and other cross-functional teams, to provide legal/paralegal services primarily focusing on managing HCP engagements.

 

This position is based in our Woburn office and welcomes hybrid work! Local candidates are expected to be on-site 2 days per week. 

 

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

This is a dynamic and important role in the legal function of a high-growth biotech company as we rapidly progress the company toward a commercial organization. The successful candidate will provide a wide variety of legal support, primarily focused on supporting various functions with healthcare professional (HCP) engagements and related matters.

 

Healthcare Professional Contracting Support

  • Assist end-to-end with the HCP engagement process for key cross-functional teams (e.g., Medical, Commercial, and Clinical), including contract drafting and review, negotiation, Fair-Market Value analysis, signature and onboarding.
  • Serve as a main point of contact for certain business stakeholders across the company to ensure clear and effective communication and organization.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating a library of relevant standard documents, contract clauses, and templates relevant to the HCP contracting process.
  • Coordinate communications and activities with internal business stakeholders and important and impactful industry professionals.

 

Vendor Contracting Support

  • Assist legal colleagues in managing the queue of pending vendor contract review requests and provide regular updates relating to vendor contract deadlines, auto-renewals and projected expirations to legal department and relevant business stakeholders.

 

General Legal and Compliance Support

  • Conduct legal and compliance related tasks and special projects, such as securing and maintaining state pharmacy board licenses and completing annual reports, in support of other legal department needs, as assigned from time to time.
  • Assist with other legal department needs, such as onboarding new vendors, assisting employees in all aspects of the contracting process and collaborate with colleagues in cross-functional groups, including Medical, Commercial, Clinical and Finance.

Qualifications

Education:   

 

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or relevant legal education.
  • JD, Paralegal Certificate or time-in-role.

  

Required Experience: 

  • 5+ years of legal experience, in-house corporate experience is preferred, law firm experience will be considered.
  • Significant experience with healthcare professional contracting, fair-market value analysis, internal stakeholder management and database systems.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Familiarity with biopharmaceutical/life science industry is necessary.
  • Strong preference will be given to candidates with contract drafting experience in a biotech, pharmaceutical, med-tech, and/or law firm setting who possess an understanding of commercial transactions and legal issues relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Notary Public a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
