Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Construction Management Department Manager to be based in Honolulu, HI. This position will be responsible for leading AECOM’s efforts for construction management and construction phase services for a variety of infrastructure projects in Hawaii and the Pacific Islands Area. You will lead and coordinate AECOM’s construction efforts, including providing direction to a team of construction managers, resident engineers, inspectors, schedulers and estimators.
Job Summary/Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the local leadership team to implement local strategies and initiatives.
- Provide management, administration, and oversight of Project construction contract(s).
- Support the development of job-specific safety programs and promote a strong safety culture and adherence to project safety protocols.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions, delays, and cost overruns.
- Review and negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other third parties, ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements.
- Identify resources to address problems encountered in accomplishing the construction work and recommend appropriate action to resolve issues with a minimum effect on the Project's timely completion.
- Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities to ensure projects remain within budgetary constraints.
- Serve as a liaison between client personnel and other stakeholders regarding project opportunities and project activities, including planning, scheduling and overall project status.
- Support the execution of strategies, major proposals, and interviews.
- Develop and capture growth strategies and increase market share for key accounts.
- Support and drive hiring efforts for various contracts.
- Mentor, develop, and train junior staff.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership experience
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Strong understanding of project finances, forecasts, project controls
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering License
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
- 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, 4 years of which in a leadership role.
- OSHA 30-hour safety course certification preferred, or ability to obtain within six months.
- Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence and project success.
- Demonstrated experience of winning work.
- Previous construction project management experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
