Your Specific Responsibilities:
This management analyst position manages the quality assurance (QA) program of the statewide Bureau of Public Health Laboratories (BPHL) Marijuana laboratory testing for specimens collected by the Office of Medical Marijuana inspectors. This includes documentation of method establishment and validation, parallel studies, pilot studies, Internal Organization for Standardization (ISO17025) accreditation and research. The incumbent is expected to use independent judgment and technical skill to accomplish the tasks assigned.
Analyzes, summarizes, and/or reviews data including reporting findings, interpreting results, and making recommendations on specimens received for proficiency testing and maintains data concerning reproducibility, reliability and specificity of tests used in the marijuana laboratory.
Responsible for ISO17025 required documentation of processes and reviews on an established timeline for completeness of records, method validation, data analysis and review. Evaluation of method detection limits, linearity, and cutoff data for established methods. Prepares, maintains, and analyzes QA documentation for laboratory activities in the designated format. Consults with senior staff concerning needs and problems associated with proficiency testing, quality control and documentation needed to meet ISO requirements.
Participates in data collection set up and testing of information systems including testing of Laboratory Information System (LIMS) updates and new method implementation. When needed, participates in specimen accessioning.
Investigates discrepancies and reporting errors. Documents the results of these audits and reports findings to senior staff and laboratory administration.
Performs other duties or projects as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of terminology, principles and techniques used in analysis and testing.
Skill in the use of lab equipment and computing.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
Strong statistical analysis skills and understanding of laboratory quality management.
Familiarity with NELAC or ISO accreditation procedures.
Qualifications:
Preferred: Bachelor’s or master’s degree, 2 or more years of quality assurance or laboratory experience.
