Retail Pharmacist - Norwood

Job Overview:

Responsible for the filling and dispensing of medication orders including the proper handling, usage, and storage of drugs in the pharmacy. Maintains standards set by the department and translates policies and procedures into the daily operation of the pharmacy. Responsible for acting as an information resource to patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication therapy and drug related information and literature. Plans and organizes work schedule of supportive personnel and pharmacists, as required. Also serves retail customers who come into the pharmacy. Drug distribution skills including order entry, clarification if needed, accuracy of checking, technician supervision and timely delivery. Demonstrates a working knowledge of computer operations, all third party plans, ensuring pharmacy support staff is knowledgeable in the same areas, trouble shooting, and call resolution.

Work Hours:

• Full-time, 80 hours bi-weekly
• Day shifts
• No weekends or holiday commitments

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy
• Registered pharmacist with a current and unrestricted State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy pharmacist license
• Proficiency in prescription formulae and mathematics for dosage and quantity calculations
• Comprehensive knowledge of Ohio Board of Pharmacy regulations
• 1-2 years of experience in a related field

Job Responsibilities:

• Take personal responsibility for professional development, particularly in ongoing clinical education
• Demonstrate initiative in accepting additional projects and seeking areas of improvement
• Successfully complete 797 and two NICU competencies
• Exhibit good clinical judgment in monitoring and dose selection of warfarin, seeking appropriate assistance when necessary
• Document monitoring activities and interventions, including formulary adherence
• Conduct order entry, provide clarification if needed, check accuracy, and supervise technicians to ensure timely delivery
• Provide clinical information and education to various disciplines through one-on-one and group discussions
