EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
•    Bachelor’s degree in public administration, communications, public policy, or related field required; or a combination of education and experience; Master’s degree preferred.
•    A minimum of five years of experience in management and/or policy and legal support, and/or charter school support.
•    Experience in public communication and community engagement, and supporting the work of Boards preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS
•    Experience in working with confidential information preferred.
•    Demonstrates exceptional communication and organizational skills, including grammar, editing, proofreading, note-taking, and public speaking.
•    Possesses in-depth knowledge of modern office practices, with strong writing and editing capabilities.
•    Familiar with county and state government functions, policies, and procedures related to education.
•    Capable of managing complex, high-level administrative responsibilities with efficiency and professionalism.
•    Effective in negotiating and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
•    Adept at multitasking and adapting to shifting priorities while maintaining accuracy and alignment with organizational goals.
•    Proficient in leveraging technology for financial management, communication, and research.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Under the direction of the Superintendent of Schools, the Coordinator Manager collaborates with the Board of Education to evaluate and implement effective strategies aligned with the Board’s core values, mission, vision & goals. The Coordinating Manager maintains a thorough understanding of the Board’s positions on sensitive and confidential matters. This role ensures that Board staff provide professional, responsive service to the Board, the public, and all Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) stakeholders. Additionally, the Coordinating Manager supports the Board in fulfilling its responsibilities while in consultation with the Superintendent and Staff Attorney.

Serves as the Board Coordinator to the Board of Education. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Policy and Governance
•    Advises the Board on education issues and policies proposed by the Superintendent or other entities.
•    Notifies the Board Chair and Vice-Chair of all pertinent matters and escalates urgent issues requiring immediate attention.
•    Reviews Board policies and CCPS administrative procedures; recommends updates, amendments, or new policies to enhance operations.
•    Supports Board committees by providing research, analysis, and information on educational policies and practices to improve student outcomes.
•    Maintains comprehensive knowledge of state and federal legislation, including the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, as it pertains to charter schools.

Communication and Public Engagement
•    Represents the Board’s programs and perspectives to agencies, organizations, and the public.
•    Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with community groups, funders, elected officials, CCPS staff, and the public.
•    Ensures the Board Office is responsive to inquiries, concerns, and complaints from parents, students, and constituents.
•    Develops systems to rout and track inquiries, ensuring timely and appropriate responses via Boardmail and phone calls.

Leadership and Operations
•    Implements and communicates to staff and the public authorized plans and policies approved by the Board and/or Superintendent.
•    Assists in preparing the Board Office’s annual operating budget (approximately $500k) and monitors expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility.
•    Independently executes complex assignments within established timelines.
•    Oversees scheduling and management of Board Office personnel to ensure proper coverage for meetings and events.
•    Develops systems to track Board actions and ensure accountability.
•    Prepares official Board correspondence and maintains documents.
•    Provides an annual performance report summarizing Board and Board Office activities, including staff evaluation outcomes.
•    Monitors charter school performance and accountability through regular site visits and participation in performance reviews.
