Position Summary:

The FAU Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine seeks a dynamic and collaborative clinical faculty member at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor to serve as a Hospitalist, a highly skilled and specialized medical professional responsible for providing comprehensive care to hospitalized patients. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including specialists, nurses, and case managers, to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment while contributing to the academic mission of the medical center. The primary work site for this position is the University’s affiliate hospital, Broward Health North.

The Hospitalist -Assistant/Associate/Full Professor will have the following specific responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care to hospitalized patients, including admission, daily rounding, clinical care coordination, and discharge planning.
• Conduct thorough assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and develop and implement appropriate treatment plans for patients in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Perform procedures relevant to hospital medicine, including central line placement, lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, and paracentesis, as needed.
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient encounters, medical records, and other required paperwork according to institutional and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate effectively with attending physicians, specialists, nurses, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and seamless care delivery.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, care conferences, and case discussions to enhance patient care, optimize clinical outcomes, and promote effective communication among team members.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and post-discharge care plans.
• Supervise and mentor medical students, residents, and other trainees during their rotations in the hospital, providing teaching and feedback as appropriate.
• Engage in scholarly activities and quality improvement initiatives, including research projects, clinical audits, and development of evidence-based guidelines or protocols.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in hospital medicine, evidence-based practices, and relevant guidelines through continuous professional development and participation in conferences and seminars.
• Adhere to all applicable legal, ethical, and professional standards, ensuring compliance with institutional policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Foster a culture of patient safety, quality improvement, and teamwork within the hospitalist team and collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to enhance patient care and outcomes.
• Collaborate with practice director in new patient recruitment to ensure successful enrollment numbers are met on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Participate in patient recruitment events that are within scope of practice and skill set.
• Follow College of Medicine organizational protocols, policies, and procedures.
• Liaise with COM Marketing and COM Development (Philanthropy) to increase visibility and funding.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
